MagiCAD for BricsCAD was launched in autumn 2023, with MagiCAD Group also becoming a reseller of the BricsCAD design platform. MagiCAD for BricsCAD combines MagiCAD’s MEP design tools with the BricsCAD platform, resulting in a cost-effective and user-friendly solution for MEP design with flexible licensing options, available directly from MagiCAD Group.
PE Teknik & Arkitektur, with headquarters in Stockholm and roughly 800 employees around Sweden, became interested in MagiCAD for BricsCAD and BricsCAD already early on when the news was launched. We talked with building engineer Henric Rosenius, who has several years of experience in architecture and is currently a man of many hats in the company, working with design software, development of design methods, MEP design, support, and strategy.
“At PE Teknik & Arkitektur, we basically cover everything related to buildings, with experts ranging from project managers, MEP designers, architects, and decorators to landscape architects. A large part of our design staff, mainly in electrical design, but also some HVAC designers, work in MagiCAD.”

When it comes to MEP design, PE Teknik & Arkitektur has used both Autodesk platforms, AutoCAD and Revit, over the years.
The company began to gradually to explore other platforms that might better match their overall needs, and when MagiCAD for BricsCAD was introduced to the market, PE Teknik & Arkitektur was ready to hop on board. BricsCAD offers different license options, including flexible network licenses, which allow more users to use the software. In the case of PE Teknik & Arkitektur, a number of super users at the company acquired network licenses so that they could evaluate the solution in an internal project group.
“Since there is so little difference between the user interfaces of AutoCAD and BricsCAD, changing platforms was not really a big challenge, and the flexible network licenses that BricsCAD offers suited our needs perfectly. They solved the problem of our infrequent users as anyone can just borrow a license and start working.”
Henrik and his team kept statistics on the use of MagiCAD for AutoCAD and Revit internally to determine who will benefit most from a switch to BricsCAD and MagiCAD for BricsCAD. First up to make the transition are electrical designers and the plan is to have HVAC designers join them some time after.
“The big win for us is, of course, the cost savings this provides, but it also makes our production more efficient as those who need to use the software can access it quickly. It is especially useful in projects where we have computers independent of the company network. Our only option previously was to lease licenses for specific projects and the cost difference between leased licenses and buying single licenses in these cases is huge. But the biggest benefit in the end is that everyone can carry out their work in an efficient way, regardless of how much or how little you need the program”
To get started efficiently, some of the company’s users also went through a transition training provided by MagiCAD Group.
“We have configured BricsCAD to be as similar to AutoCAD as possible when it comes to our working methods and the transition has been very smooth. Sure, there are a few features that are different, but overall, the interface is familiar, and a seasoned AutoCAD user will have no difficulty navigating BricsCAD as well. A big advantage for us is also getting the platform and the software from the same supplier, which means that all support issues can be easily handled through MagiCAD Group”
Henrik sums up the experience of BricsCAD and MagiCAD for BricsCAD like this:
“We are very pleased. We also see that Bricsys, which develops BricsCAD, is at the forefront when it comes to taking care of customers’ wishes and feedback and they seem to be proactive in the development of the platform and its functionality. It will be exciting to follow the development of the software and the idea is to continuously adjust our licensing needs and agreements so that more people can switch to BricsCAD in the future.”
