The project: Grand Hotel De La Minerva

The Grand Hotel De La Minerva project is a redevelopment of an architecturally and artistically valued 17th century building at the heart of historical Rome. The ambitious project, overseen by the Arsenale group, involves a major renovation of both the building itself, as well as its MEP systems, transforming the Grand Hotel De La Minerva into a unique 5-star luxury hotel, operating under the Orient Express brand of the Accor group.

Rilo Digital Planning was entrusted with the MEP design in the project, as well as with the construction management of the systems.

The project had a very high degree of complexity, because the team needed to accommodate both the historical, architectural, and decorative aspects of the building and the technical system demands of a luxury hotel. MagiCAD for Revit enabled efficient management of all MEP system related issues during the design and construction phases, making it easy and safe to handle design changes.

Use of MagiCAD in the project

MagiCAD Ventilation and Piping modules for Revit supported the team in the sizing and calculation of all related MEP elements, as well as in the design of the networks.

“The tool allowed us to have greater control over the entire building thanks to the system sizing functions and the possibility to add product families directly from the MagiCAD library, which provides a wide choice of products and manufacturers.“

MagiCAD software, and BIM overall, facilitates cooperation between multiple people on the same project, improving control and speeding up design times.

Whereas normally a lot of design time goes to sizing and calculating the systems, MagiCAD helped make this part of the process faster and enabled better control.
