The latest MagiCAD release, MagiCAD 2018 Update Release 3 (UR-3), included again multiple handy new functions for Revit-based electrical design, including time-saving cable tray crossings with 3 new crossing methods.
We took this opportunity to discuss the current development of MagiCAD Electrical for Revit with Product Development Engineer Samuli Mattila, our development lead for MagiCAD Electrical.
“MagiCAD Electrical makes it possible to perform comprehensive electrical design on Revit technology. This is a huge advantage, as it enables efficient 3D coordination of electrical systems with other MEP disciplines in Revit-based BIM projects”, commented Samuli.
“We are currently developing Revit-based electrical calculation functions which will enable calculations directly in the Revit model. This will include new early-phase calculations, such as power demand estimation for the entire building. Another focus point is physical space requirement data which we can utilise even further thanks to MagiCAD’s detailed modelling functions. This can mean for instance the modelling of electrical conduit systems in coordination with concrete structures, or the calculation of the space required by cables along a particular cable tray”, Samuli concluded.
