Apply Emtunga designs, coordinates and builds a 7-floor Accommodation Module for Statoil’s offshore platform at the Johan Sverdrup oil field. The Module will be the largest offshore living quarters on the Norwegian continental shelf, with bed capacity for 560 people. With total area of 14,500 square meters, the project includes recreational quarters, locker rooms, helipad, helicopter hangar and other facilities necessary for to operate offshore living quarters.

The Module will be a hybrid construction with the first and second floors built of steel and the floors from third to seventh out of aluminum. The first and second floors will be manufactured by Kvaerner and KBR and equipped by Apply. The installations for the Accommodation Module will be made by Apply at Kvaerner’s premises in Stord, Norway.

Planned project delivery is in the second quarter of 2018, with work carried out as a joint effort by Apply Leirvik in Stord, Norway, its sister company Apply Emtunga in Sweden and Aluminium Offshore in Singapore. Total value of the contract is approximately NOK 2 billion.

Design Coordinator, CAD Manager Mattias Jagefeldt from Apply Emtunga says that one of the major benefits of MagiCAD for Revit in the Johan Sverdrup project is MagiCAD’s large database of Revit families which are verified and controlled by Progman Oy.

– This is very important to us because we have strict requirements for the product families to ensure that they do not weigh down our performance when working with large project models, Mattias comments.

Apply Emtunga uses the BIM information provided by MagiCAD throughout its processes: in procurement, production, mechanical completion (MC) and commissioning.

– We also value MagiCAD’s easy-to-use calculation functions because they indicate quickly if there is something is wrong with our design, says Mattias.
