MagiCAD 2020 Update Release 2

1. Connection nodes between HVAC and Electrical systems

Users are now able to search for mechanical objects that contain electrical connectors and create their own connection node objects into the corresponding places. The connection nodes are then handled in electrical systems as electrical objects. The nodes can copy and update Object IDs and electrical data from the mechanical objects and electrical designers can also receive notifications whenever a mechanical object has been moved or removed and edit their system accordingly.

2. Connect multiple sprinkler heads simultaneously

A powerful new tool allows users to connect multiple sprinkler heads simultaneously and choose between several different routing options. Users can also select the pipe series for the connecting pipes and use flexible pipes for the final section to the sprinkler. A preview option lets users examine the connection before it is created.

3. Improved functionality for 3-port valves

MagiCAD now includes a new valve category for 3-port valves. The new version also supports connections to all three ports and calculations of systems with 3 port valves.

4. Edit the lengths of integrated pipe reducers

It is now possible to edit the lengths of integrated pipe reducers, increasing the detailed accuracy of a pipe network model. Pipe reducer lengths can be edited via the Change Property window.

5. Define air density and viscosity of ventilation systems

The new version of MagiCAD supports user defined air density and viscosity for ventilation systems. This enables more accurate calculations of, for example, smoke evacuation systems and buildings located in high altitudes.

6. Split Segments function for MagiCAD Ventilation, Piping, and Electrical

A new Split Segments function in MagiCAD Ventilation, Piping, and Electrical allows you to automatically split ducts, pipes, cable trays, lighting tracks and LED-stripes into commercially available standard lengths. The different elements are commonly available in specific prefabricated lengths and the new function will help users to split system elements accordingly in drawings. These parts can then be easily listed in reports, making it easier for contractors to make accurate material orders.

7. Perform crossings for multiple pipes, ducts, or cable trays simultaneously

The new version allows users to perform crossings for multiple ducts, pipes and cable trays simultaneously. Simply select the first segment and the length of the crossing and then select other segments that will perform the same crossing. You can set angles and offsets for the crossing and preview the results before updating the model.

8. Produce automated quantity take-offs with a new Batch Report functionality

The new version enables users to schedule and automate the production of quantity take-off reports with a new Batch Report functionality. Automated quantity take-offs provide significant time savings, eliminating the need to run each report configuration individually. You can also produce reports from multiple projects with a single command. Scheduling automated reports removes the need for manual involvement and ensures that reports are produced when needed.

9. Improved editing and management of room values in MagiCAD Room

A new All rooms category allows users to simultaneously set values for multiple similar rooms, for example, if they are located on different floors. Group editing values saves time and eliminates the need to edit similar rooms one by one.

The new version also adds sortable columns to all room lists, including the new All rooms category. This helps users in setting values and provides an easy overview of various room properties.

10. IFC enhancements

IFC Export now supports property sets for Building, Storey, Site and Project. Additionally, connections to Fan coils, Climate beams and Pumps have been improved.
