MagiCAD 2022 includes all of the new features and improvements from previous MagiCAD releases. Please see also the feature highlights from the latest MagiCAD 2021 UR-1 and UR-2 releases.
MagiCAD 2022
1. Support for AutoCAD 2022
All
MagiCAD 2022 is compatible with the new Autodesk AutoCAD 2022, as well as with the previous five AutoCAD versions 2017-2021, including the verticals AutoCAD MEP and AutoCAD Architecture.
2. Adjust required radiator power for covered radiators
Piping
Radiators are sometimes placed behind radiator covers for aesthetic reasons. However, this reduces the efficiency of the radiator to some extent depending on the material and design of the cover. Radiators can also sometimes be rotated to better fit the available space, which can affect the required power.
You can now add a correction factor to the required radiator power for installations with radiator covers and rotated installations. The correction factor is defined in radiator selection and used in calculations. After radiator installation, the correction factor is available in Part properties.
3. Display additional information in System and Installation dialogs
Piping, Ventilation, Sprinkler
Additional information is now available in the System and Product installation dialogs. System dialogs include calculation method information and product installation dialogs include product parameters from the project. You can add this information to be displayed when selecting the columns to be included in the dialogs.
4. Longer text format names
Piping, Ventilation, Electrical, Sprinkler
The character limit for text format names has been increased to 100 characters. This applies to Dimension texts in the Ventilation, Piping and Sprinkler modules and Text formats in the Electrical module.
5. Updated Russian domestic water calculation standard
Piping
Group types of the Russian SP30.13330.2016 standard have been updated according to the latest edition. The new edition of the standard has only two groups for residential buildings instead of the previous five. In addition, Dishwasher and Washing machine have been added to device types.
6. Kvs value for 3-port valves
Piping
Kvs value has been added for 3 port valves. The kvs value indicates the amount of flow in a fully open valve at a pressure differential of 1 bar. The value can be selected for Dimension texts, Report templates and IFC Export (property sets), and it is shown in Part Properties.
7. Improved presentation of supply cable connection data
Electrical
The presentation of supply cable connection data properties has been improved in Reports and Part Properties so that it follows the flow direction in the systems. The Connection 1 property shows the feeding end of a supply cable and the Connection 2 property shows the supplying end of a supply cable. This makes the presentation more logical for the purposes of many uses, such as supply cable lists.
8. Use automatic feeder blocks in switchboard schematics
Electrical
You can now add a feeder block into a switchboard schematic drawing to automatically display data from the feeding circuit and its supply cable. Simply, insert a feeder block into the schematic and select which data to show in the cells. The information can then be easily updated with an Update button in the ribbon and in the feeder block properties. You can also define if the feeding circuit is in a plan drawing or a main riser diagram and MagiCAD will automatically update the information from the correct location.
9. Object selection according to switchboard and host areas
Electrical
Switchboard and host areas have been added to the predefined Object selection options. You can use the new options to select the appropriate search area and then use data filters to narrow down the object selection.
In addition, when defining a host area, you can now add its surface area to an area summary. The host area summary can be included in Dimension texts and IFC Export.
10. Rectangular sprinkler operation area
Sprinkler
MagiCAD now includes a rectangular sprinkler operation area, in addition to circular and sector areas. The height and width of the operation area can be entered manually.
The rectangular pattern responds to the demands of many sprinkler standards – for example, EN 12845 – which require sprinkler operation areas to be as close as possible to rectangular.
11. Calculate sprinkler system volume
Sprinkler
You can now perform volume calculation for a sprinkler network. The calculation provides the network volume and the total volume for each sprinkler system in the network. System volume helps to determine, for example, the amount of antifreeze that is needed.
12. Updated Connection Node feature
Piping, Ventilation, Electrical, Sprinkler
The updated Connection Node feature offers better flexibility and overview in connection node handling. The object selection set for connection nodes has new filtering options that make it easier to select a specific set of objects when connecting and disconnecting nodes and a new report option provides an easy overview of connected and disconnected nodes.
13. Assign discipline-specific default offsets for provisions
Piping, Ventilation, Electrical, Sprinkler
You can now assign discipline-specific default offsets for provisions. This makes it easier to create accurate provisions for ventilation, piping, and electrical segments within the same project. The additional length for provisions can also be adjusted if needed. Provisions now also include an automatic timestamp for when they have been created and edited, making it easier to keep track of possible updates.
