MagiCAD 2023 Update Release 1
1. One-to-many linking option in Schematics
In addition to one-to-one linking and data transfer between a schematic symbol and a device in the model, the Schematics module now includes an option for one-to-many linking, where a single symbol is linked to a selected group of devices. The new option provides increased flexibility and helps create clear and simple schematic drawings.
One-to-many linking allows you to, for example, summarize the total airflow of multiple air devices and add the combined airflow to a symbol in a ventilation system schematic drawing. Changes to the devices are automatically synchronized to the corresponding symbol, helping you to easily keep schematic drawings up-to-date during the project.
2. Parallel supply cables for power and ELV systems
You can now assign parallel supply cables for circuits in power and ELV systems. Multiple smaller parallel supply cables are sometimes used instead of a larger one for easier installation and more flexible routing.
The number of parallel cables is taken into account in calculations and bill of materials listings and the parallel cables are shown in 3D views of the cabling system. The Cable Code and Cable Description texts also include the total number of parallel cables so that the cables are correctly tagged in different views and drawings, such as switchboard schematics.
3. New hiding options for electrical objects
New hiding options help you customize the presentation of your electrical drawings by hiding cable routes, lighting tracks, LED-stripes and cables when needed. This will make them easy-to-read in places where objects are intersecting with other objects or devices.
You can define in viewport preferences when and how objects will be hidden. All the hiding options can be used either for a specific manually selected area or for an entire printout view. You can also enable automatic hiding for all desired viewports in a drawing, in which case the hiding is done automatically every time the drawing is saved.
In addition, the existing purely manual hiding function now covers all segment types and can be used to perform hiding in Model Space.
4. Accurate presentation of device operation areas
You can now define three additional operation area sectors for devices. The additional sectors enable a more accurate presentation of actual operation areas, especially for CCTV devices. All sectors share the same radius and angle, but the sector directions can be freely defined.
5. Box or cylinder 3D presentation for ancillary cable route objects
The cable route object category Others/CR is used to add various ancillary objects to a cable route system. You can now present objects from this category with a box or a cylinder in 3D views, enabling you to, for example, model cable wells or installation plates on a cable tray.
6. Adjust the collar length of drainage devices
Adjusting the collar length of drainage devices is an easy way to make small modifications during the design, for example, when the drainage device connection or top-level are slightly off.
7. Update pressure loss and flow data to devices and connection nodes
The Change properties function can now be used to update pressure loss and flow data for devices and for connection nodes with node type None that are commonly used to simulate devices. This makes it easier to update data across different devices and nodes.
In order to enable Change properties to be used for pressure loss and flow data, several changes have been made to related properties for different system types. In duct systems the Air device flow property has been renamed Flow and a new Pressure drop property has been added. A new Pressure drop property has been added to heating, cooling and special systems and Maximum flow sum, Nominal flow sum, and Pressure drop properties have been added to water systems. Finally, a new Flow property has been added to drainage and gas systems.
All the changed and new properties apply to both devices and connection nodes with node type None.
8. Use connection nodes to calculate pressure drops in sprinkler networks
You can now add Connection nodes with node type None into sprinkler networks. The connection nodes can be used to calculate the pressure drop between two points in the network without placing actual sprinkler devices. This is useful, for example, when performing pipe sizing in the drafting stage or for calculating pressure drops in main networks that serve multiple sub-networks.
9. Possibility to zoom and pan in Room preview window
You can now zoom or pan in the MagiCAD Room preview window. This makes it easier to locate the room that you are currently working with, especially in bigger buildings with extensive floorplans.
