Swegon Room Unit Design (RUD) is a web-based product selection and simulation tool for room units. The new plugin connects the Swegon RUD to MagiCAD for AutoCAD, MagiCAD for Revit, and standalone Revit. It enables direct data transfer between the RUD and CAD projects.
“For Swegon, developing this new plugin for design software was important because we want to help the customer to do their work more effectively. They don’t need to fill the same data twice. The plugin also reduces manual data transfer and improves the quality of calculations”, explains Börje Lehrman, Commercial Software Manager at Swegon.
“A plugin for product selection software complements the BIM library, which cannot accommodate all product variants when dealing with configurable products”, Lehrman adds.
The RUD helps designers to find the room units that are most suitable in a project according to specified values and configuration options. It’s a web-based selection tool that is supported by most browsers, although Chrome or Microsoft Edge are recommended. Users can insert solution requirements, room type, room size, and ventilation requirements to Product Selector.
In MagiCAD for Revit and standalone Revit, the plugin collects geometry and other relevant information from the room through MEP spaces. The plugin transfers this data to the RUD selection tool allowing opening of MEP spaces and viewing air flow patterns in the room.
The RUD selection tool includes 3D view that presents isovels. Calculations can be seen and performed for effects, pressure drops, flows, sound levels and CO2 content for the entire room or a specific product. Insert product -function allows plugin to open RUD Catalogue search and add products.
After entering one or more products to the room, the plugin exports them into MagiCAD for Revit or standalone Revit. Similar features are available in MagiCAD for AutoCAD, but room area must be shown manually.
