Background
The Swedish financial group SEB will move to a new office located in the Arena City district in Solna, Stockholm during 2017 and 2018. The construction, currently in progress, is the largest office building project in Sweden in the last thirty years. Fabege relied on ECO Konsult i Stockholm for the project’s electrical and systems design including construction specifications. ECO Konsult carried out the project using MagiCAD Electrical for AutoCAD.
During 2017 and 2018, approximately 4400 SEB employees will move into the new, interconnected office buildings. The new office will consist of 3 buildings with approximately 97 000 square meters of space in total, most of which has been designed for office use. The three buildings will have from 7 to 14 storeys, and as such, will be a new landmark in the district among the neighbouring Mall of Scandinavia and the Friends Arena.
“The biggest challenges in the project have been the project’s size, the high density of building services systems in the buildings, and the rather short construction period,” says Fredrik Schlau, CAD Manager at ECO Konsult.
The Solution
Due to the short construction period, it was even more important to get every part of the project to run as smoothly as possible, to get project coordination working well and to successfully produce high-quality project documentation for the customer. The coordination with other disciplines was done in IFC format, enabled by MagiCAD’s IFC export functions as well as Solibri. For the coordination to be as successful as possible, it was crucial that all disciplines were carefully designed and checked for collisions.
“In all of our projects, including this particular project, MagiCAD helps us coordinate our installations with other installations. It has helped us in this and other projects to the point that there are virtually no collisions left in the construction stage”, Fredrik concludes.
With MagiCAD Electrical, you have access to MagiCAD’s product libraries with a wide range of available electrical components and devices which include real geometric and technical data. With MagiCAD Electrical, it is also possible to produce up-to-date bills of materials and quantity take-off lists in real time based on all electrical installations in the project – for each individual room, each floor or the entire building. ECO Konsult has used MagiCAD for almost six years, with approximately 20 licensed seats with MagiCAD today.
