MagiCAD 2021 Update Release 2
1. Batch Manager
Common
The new MagiCAD Batch Manager allows you to save combinations of selected functions as batch processes that will be automatically performed before printing, saving, or exporting. This helps ensure that saved models and exported files are always updated with the latest changes.
Two types of processes are configured in the MagiCAD Batch Manager: Batch processes and Reactive processes. Batch processes allow you to save combinations of the available functions and build a list of different configurations for different purposes. Any one of the saved Batch processes can then be assigned to either the Print, Save, Save As, or Export IFC functions as a Reactive process that is performed automatically when the function is used.
Automatic batch processes ensure that needed tasks are executed and that your print-outs, saved models and exported files are updated with the latest changes. There is no need for manual checking, MagiCAD will prepare your files exactly as you need.
2. Create custom identification codes with Object ID Formats
Common
You can now combine selected parameters and variables into Object ID Formats. The saved Object ID Formats can then be assigned to products, creating an individual identification code for each product according to the defined format. The identification codes can be used to convey many types of information and to mark products for installation or facility management purposes.
3. Improvements to Provision for Builderswork Openings
Common
Three new improvements to the Provision for Builderswork Openings tool further enhance its capabilities with easier provision handling and support for integrated air devices.
Update provision symbols – Existing 2D symbols for provisions in the model can be updated to another symbol selection. Simply select another symbol for the provisions in the dataset and the model is updated accordingly.
Manual provisions can be ignored when updating provisions – When you update the provisions in the model with the Provision for Builderswork Openings, you can skip provisions that you have created manually.
Provisions for integrated air devices – You can now create provisions for air devices that are integrated into the wall.
4. Range selection for Provision for Builderswork Openings
Common
Range selection in Provision for Builderswork Openings allows you to narrow down the provision search to a selected part of the model. Working within a limited area makes it easier to identify relevant openings and makes the overall operation of the tool much faster, as previously users had to perform a search of the full model and then use various filters to narrow down to the relevant openings.
5. Editing possibility in Sheet Manager
Common
If you forgot a field to be used in the drawing stamp, or want to use another legend on the views you created in Sheet Manager, there’s no need to start over. Simply select the Edit sheets tab and correct what needs to be changed. You can select and edit multiple rows at a time if needed.
6. Easy radiator installation with radiator connection sets
Piping
You can now install radiators to a drawing using radiator connection sets that include all the components needed for the radiator connection. Ready-to-use connection sets make it much easier to perform radiator connections and compare connection alternatives.
Radiator connection sets are available in the dataset as a new product category. After a connection set has been added to a radiator, they are automatically installed together.
7. Improved radiator selection tool
Piping
You can now use space data also in manual radiator selection to perform radiator sizing and to select the number of radiators based on the design heating load. Manual radiator selection and placement needs to be used when the room or window geometry is too complex for automatic radiator selection and placement. However, the possibility to use space data is still very useful even in manual selection for identifying correct radiator sizes.
8. Thermostatic mixing valves for domestic water systems
Piping
Thermostatic mixing valves are now available in MagiCAD as a new product category. They are used in domestic water networks for mixing cold and hot water in order to ensure a safe water temperature, for example, in showers.
The addition of thermostatic mixing valves means that it is now possible to model an entire domestic water network in detail from the boiler to the last shower head, resulting in increased calculation accuracy and more detailed quantity take-off reports.
9. Define suspension lengths for pendant luminaires
Electrical
The new version of MagiCAD supports pendant luminaire models with adjustable suspension lengths. You can lock the desired elevation level of the luminaire and the suspension length will be automatically adjusted accordingly. The suspension length has also been added as a shared parameter, so it can easily be edited afterwards.
10. Use a Running Index numbering rule for multiple groups
Common, Electrical
You can now assign a Running Index numbering rule for several different groups within a project. For example, several groups are often created in electrical design with a different group for each panel in the project. You can now simply assign the same numbering rule for all the groups instead of creating the numbering separately for each one. This reduces the amount of needed numbering rules dramatically and improves their efficiency.
11. Copy parameter values with new Match Properties tool
Schematic
The new Match Properties tool allows you to easily copy the parameter values of an object to other objects. Entering a parameter value manually to multiple objects is a highly time-consuming and error-prone task. With the Match Properties tool, you can simply select a source object and target objects, and the tool will automatically copy all parameter values with a matching parameter name from the source object to the target objects.
Copying parameters is particularly useful when you have defined a specific value for a line segment or a symbol in a network and the value needs to then be added to other locations in the network, for example, for tagging purposes.
