As part of their constant quest for the optimum return on investment, building and design professionals are always on the lookout for the most efficient technology. For Belgian design office Lemaire, MagiCAD and local BENELUX reseller TASE Solutions responded perfectly to their needs by providing better and faster management of design projects and convincing results.
The design office LEMAIRE and ELLYPS together form a major multidisciplinary company active in Belgium and throughout the world. The team of 100 is made up of engineers, consultants and designers, who offer their clients a wide range of innovative services. Since 2016, the group has also included the energy department BEOS allowing them to provide specific solutions to respond to the environmental challenges of our age.
Luc Defourny is the group’s Managing Director and ensures, among his other tasks, that they remain at the forefront of technology. He speaks with passion about his colleagues’ high performance. “There are fifty engineers in charge of preliminary sizing and project management and forty designers who then further develop the projects and produce plans and quantity surveys. The office has moved progressively from AutoCAD towards Revit, and since 2014 all of our plans have been strictly 3D,” says Luc Defourny.
A software that adapts to any project
In a constant effort to improve ROI and performance, the LEMAIRE and ELLYPS group turned to TASE Solutions back in 2014 in order to complement their existing Revit work with three MagiCAD modules; Ventilation, Piping and Electrical. The network licenses are shared between twelve MEP designers who use the licenses intensively.
They have since used MagiCAD successfully on multiple and varied projects, including the China-Belgium Center Technology Center at Louvain La Neuve, the new headquarters of Plastic Omnium in Evere, industrial projects in Solvay, the new administrative and technical centre for Ardent Group, and several buildings of the Liège Airport. They even designed their own new offices with MagiCAD.
Trainings ensure efficient use of the software
“In order to get most out of our investment in MagiCAD, we are currently exploring the integrated calculations so that we can avoid using external calculation software. We recently sent three of our modellers to an advanced training with TASE Solutions, which helped us to improve our proficiency with the software. This solution has enormous potential,” continues Mr Defourny. “Ever since 2014 we have been constantly in touch with TASE Solutions, and their service and high-quality trainings have been excellent. Their BIM expertise helps us to stay on the cutting edge of the industry”, conludes Luc Defourny.
