The Solution

The UK Manchester office of Ramboll first started using MagiCAD for Revit modules in early 2012 and began wider adoption in 2013. Today, the Manchester office uses MagiCAD Heating & Piping, MagiCAD Ventilation and MagiCAD Electrical on Autodesk Revit MEP.

“The product database is one of our favourite MagiCAD features because it makes finding and using the appropriate products a lot faster. With MagiCAD, when I need to find a diffuser, I do not need to spend time looking for the right Revit family online. Neither do I have to draw the diffuser from scratch”, says Graduate Engineer and MagiCAD Software Manager Audrey Dogbeh from Ramboll UK in Manchester.

“MagiCAD also reduces the amount of time to create crossings when there are clashing services in a system. MagiCAD’s crossing tool, angle-to-horizontal connections, tagging tool, 3D section box and the possibility to have our own symbols are all highly useful enhancements on top of Revit functionality”, Audrey continues.

“Another excellent feature is MagiCAD’s Builder’s Work (Provisions for Voids) tool that enables the coordination and approval of openings with the architect. Without MagiCAD, we would have to go through the whole model and check things one at a time and register the size of each opening manually. This makes the project workflow significantly more efficient with one of the latest examples of this being a 4200-square-meter project we did for the West Herts College in the Decorum Campus in Watford, UK”, concludes Audrey.
