UK Standards & Localisation
Out-of-the-box Revit provides a global 3D collaborative design platform for all aspects of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) design. Revit ships as a 3D coordination platform with the ability to perform basic calculations aligned to an American design workflow. In order to use UK content and enable UK calculation outputs, MagiCAD for Revit is the solution of choice. As an Autodesk AEC Industry Partner we work to fill in the localised gaps and align Revit MEP to a country specific design workflow.
For our UK and Irish markets, MagiCAD is localised to meet the calculation, presentation and workflow requirements of the MEP industry. When installed, MagiCAD offers content such as ductwork and pipework fittings, immediate access to over 1,000,000 data rich MEP verified product variants from more than 300 globally renowned manufacturers, and over 1200 BS and CIBSE standard engineering symbols.
MagiCAD overrides the basic out-of-the-box Revit inbuilt ASHRAE calculation engine enabling UK and Irish customers to perform fully-integrated sizing and pressure drop calculations (CIBSE Guide C), domestic water and drainage diversity calculations (BS 8558, BS EN 806, CIPHE, BS EN 12056), gas calculations (CIBSE Guide C), and sprinkler calculations to wide range of globally renowned standards (NFPA 13, BS 9251:2014, EN 12845, etc).
MagiCAD for Revit unlocks the true potential of Revit to offer powerful modelling tools, intelligent MEP content, calculation outputs, and the templates required to support the successful delivery of projects to a UK and Irish design workflow.

| CIBSE Guide C: This reference data is used when MagiCAD performs ductwork and pipework sizing and pressure drop calculations within the Revit MEP environment.  |
Intelligent and dynamic: The calculation engine uses fitting and flow properties to enable automatic pressure drop factor selection for CIBSE tables.  |
Transparency: MagiCAD offers clear calculation output with the ability to generate detailed reports for ease of reviewing and QA purposes. | Modelled pipe components: Fittings as well as the internal and external diameters of pipes have been accurately modelled and are in line with BS and EN standards. |
Pipe roughness: Reference data has been taken from the CIBSE Guide C and/or BS and EN values to ensure that roughness figures are compliant with UK requirements. |
Pipework materials and fittings: A combination of general BS and EN standards and manufacturer based pipework systems are readily available. |

| Modelled duct components: Duct fittings in conjunction with standard circular and rectangular duct sizes have been accurately modelled for realistic usage. Rectangular Width to Height Ratios can be pre-set to ensure these are not exceeded during the sizing calculation. |

Air Handling Unit plugins: MagiCAD has a range of Air Handling Unit (AHU) plugins to enable easier product selection and customisation. The plugins are special software add-ons that connect MagiCAD with the manufacturers’ AHU selection software. Fully customised AHU’s can be imported into MagiCAD, complete with accurate dimensions and technical data. |
