New features – MagiCAD 2025 UR-1 for Revit
1. Check damper safety distances
Ventilation
Flow dampers are an essential part of ventilation networks, as they directly affect user comfort and energy efficiency. Dampers usually need undisturbed airflow to work properly, which means that their placement requires detailed consideration to avoid errors that may affect their performance. Since even minor adjustments to network segments can affect damper distances, checking damper placements for a large network can be time consuming work.
The Extended flow analysis calculation in MagiCAD now indicates whether damper placements meet safety distance requirements. The checking is done according to safety distance data in the product, if available, or according to user defined distance requirements.

2. New options for air terminal connection
Ventilation
New options in the Device connection tool enable easier air terminal connection. Users can now define the exact distance between the rise or drop connection point and the middle point of the connected duct when there is an elevation change to the device. The tool also includes an option to use flexible duct and the shortest possible route for elevation changes.

3. Throw length data for air terminals
Ventilation
Manufacturer air terminal products now include throw length data. Throw lengths enable more accurate product selection and help optimize air distribution. Throw lengths are included in every dialog where air terminal product properties are shown throughout the project from product selection to product installation and when examining the finished model.

4. Improved Standard connection tool

The Standard connection tool in MagiCAD allows users to easily connect system sections helping save valuable time during modelling work. The tool now supports several new connection scenarios.
Multiple segments can be connected to the same main segment simultaneously when their system classification is the same and the segments are perpendicular to the main segment. The tool also now maintains correct spacing between segments when multiple segments are connected end-to-end simultaneously. This requires that the segments are parallel and on the same plane.

5. Improved Drainage connection tool

Improvements to the Drainage connection tool enable more efficient modelling of drainage systems. Multiple drainage devices can now be connected simultaneously, instead of creating connections one-by-one for each device. The tool also supports vertical drainage pipe connections. Vertical pipes are connected to horizontal pipes in the same way as drainage devices with a bottom connection.

6. Convert rigid pipes to flexible pipes
Piping
MagiCAD now allows you to convert any part of a piping network from rigid pipe to flexible pipe. This was previously only possible for sprinkler connection pipes.
The Convert to Flex tool helps users save time, especially in situations where flexible pipes are used to move between horizontal and vertical pipes. The conversion is done automatically from a selected fitting, component, or device onwards in the selected direction until the next element that is other than a pipe, bend, or reducer.

7. Drainage Bend Converter tool

A new Drainage Bend Converter tool allows users to easily change drainage bends from 90 degrees to 2×45 degrees or 3×30 degrees and back. It is also possible to add a defined length of pipe between the 45 degree bends. The new tool removes the need to use section views or the Standard connection tool for the same purpose and makes the workflow much easier. The tool can be used directly from a floating toolbar and the conversion can be done for multiple bends simultaneously.

8. Summarise device values for a space
Common Tools
It is often necessary to check the total values of all devices in a space—for example, the total supply air flow—to adjust the design and assess the need for changes. MagiCAD now allows users to sum up heating/cooling power and supply/extract airflow from devices and add the total value to a space. The summaries can be done for all devices or for selected device types and existing summaries can be updated for selected spaces at any time to check the current situation.

9. Expanded Selection Filter tool
Common Tools
The Selection Filter tool has been expanded to provide more filtering possibilities for users. It is now possible to add any parameter from the project to the selection filter, which allows users to customize the filtering for different situations and helps locate correct elements in the model. Adding new parameters is easy as users can simply select them from a ready list of project parameters and then define their place in the filtering hierarchy.

10. Support for Polish domestic water calculation standard
Calculation
MagiCAD now supports the Polish domestic water calculation standard PN-B-92-01706, including all building types covered by the standard. Because the standard does not define requirements for hot water recirculation (return water) pipes, MagiCAD offers a selection of velocity and pressure loss options for their sizing calculation.

11. Tag multiple segments
Common Tools
The new Tag multiple segments tool makes it much easier to add tags to system segments. Users can create suitable tags for the tool with the help of a tag family template and assign the tags for different types of system segments, for example horizontal pipes. The tags are then applied to the model simply by clicking segments. Each segment is automatically tagged according to their assigned tag family and the order of the tags follows the order in which segments are selected. The tool also includes various options that can be used to achieve the desired visual presentation.

12. Parallel power supplies and single core cables

MagiCAD now supports the use of parallel power supplies for an electrical system and single core cables.
Multiple power supplies are sometimes used in a parallel configuration for easier installation and higher current carrying capacity. It is now possible to define the number of parallel power supplies for a cable setup in the Wire tool and Set Circuit Properties window. The defined multiplier will multiply the whole setup when calculating cable amounts and cable dimensions in various MagiCAD functions. The multiplier is also used when exporting parameters to external calculation software and it can optionally be included in the Merge Parameters function and when creating switchboard schematics.
New cable properties that have been added in recent versions to the Wire Type Management tool can now be used more widely throughout the software. The weight per meter property is used to determine if a wire type should be considered a cable product and the conductor arrangement dictates if the cable is considered a multi-core cable or a single-core cable. Single core cable handling is enabled with numerous small additions. Users can select the number of different conductors and a separate PE cable if needed. All the settings for single core cables are taken into account in the Bill of Materials and Cable Layout functions and when transferring electrical data to external calculation software.

13. Import lighting plans from DIALux evo

DIALux evo is a comprehensive planning tool for lighting design. You can now import lighting plans from DIALux evo into MagiCAD in IFC format.
After opening the imported IFC file, MagiCAD users need to select which storeys to add from the DIALux evo design and then define 2D symbols for the created luminaires or map the luminaire types to corresponding ones in MagiCAD. After the storey selection and mapping, MagiCAD places the luminaires into the project according to elevation information from DIALUX evo. The correct storeys for the luminaires in MagiCAD are automatically selected based on storey elevations and luminaires are automatically mapped to luminaire types in MagiCAD when their manufacturer names and article numbers match.
You can also simply update existing luminaires according to the data from DIALux evo, instead of creating an entirely new design each time. This makes it easy to edit the lighting design at later project stages.

14. Support for new Revit family categories and improvements to Connections to Mechanical

MagiCAD now supports many new family categories that have been added to Revit recently. New family categories for ELV products include Fire Protection under the Fire product class, Audio Visual Devices under Audio&Video, and the older Nurse Call Devices under Signal. The Connections to Mechanical function can now search connectors from Food Service Equipment, Mechanical Control Devices, Medical Equipment, Plumbing Equipment, Signage, and Vertical Circulation categories.
The Connections to Mechanical function also have expanded filtering possibilities, including filtering according to level and connection node type, and the connection objects created with the function can now be indexed with the Running Index tool.

15. Undo function for wire drawing
Electrical
It is very easy to miss clicks or to decide on a different route during wire drawing. This previously meant that users needed to delete the current wire and start over, which could become very irritating over time.
The Wire tool in MagiCAD now includes a button that allows users to undo previous steps along the drawn wire. Users can simply undo any number of their last actions, or even go back to previously drawn wires, since the function remembers all steps taken after starting the Wire tool. The function can also be used by pressing the backspace key during wire drawing.

16. Revit 2025 support for Supports & Hangers module and international electrical calculations
Supports & Hangers, Electrical
MagiCAD Supports & Hangers module has been updated to support Revit 2025. Electrical calculations have also been updated and the international calculations now support Revit 2025. Localized electrical calculations are available for Revit 2023.1 and 2024.
