1. Support for Autodesk Revit 2026

All

MagiCAD 2026 is compatible with the new Autodesk Revit 2026, as well as with the previous two Revit versions 2025 and 2024.

Revit 2026 includes a significant change to circuit and cable handling where wire types are only used in views and cable types are used in circuits. To accommodate this change, there are some new additions in MagiCAD Electrical.

In general, wire types contain all the cable data in MagiCAD, and cable types in circuits reference the wire types in the project. When cable types are used in any MagiCAD functions, the software looks to the corresponding wire type for the cable data. Two new functions help keep the new cable types and old wire types synchronized. A new Sync button in the Wire Type Management tool cross-checks cable type and wire type lists and adds missing items to them. There is also an Add button that allows you to quickly add new types to both lists.

2. Access both selection tools and plugins in MagiCAD Connect

All

MagiCAD Connect is an add-in application that allows you to bring BIM objects from the MagiCAD Cloud library into a project and use manufacturer software for product selection and configuration. MagiCAD Connect is available for MagiCAD on all platforms, and for plain Revit.

The MagiCAD Connect version released in connection with MagiCAD 2026 includes both MagiCAD Cloud Selection Tools and MagiCAD Plugins under the MagiCAD Connect tab. This gives users easy access to all product selection software in the same place. Plugins have previously been in a separate tab in MagiCAD.

When users download new plugins, they are added to MagiCAD Connect. Existing plugins are still in the current Add-ins tab, until they have been updated. The Add-ins tab in MagiCAD for Revit will include a button directing users to MagiCAD Connect during a transition period.

The MagiCAD Connect tab itself is placed first among the MagiCAD module tabs by default to increase the visibility of the application and related tools. The position of the MagiCAD Connect tab can be changed between first and last and the software will remember the selected position at next start-up.

3. Share datasets in Autodesk Construction Cloud

Common tools

Autodesk Construction Cloud is an online platform that connects software applications and teams throughout a building project. MagiCAD datasets can now be added to an Autodesk Construction Cloud project. Sharing datasets in the Autodesk Construction Cloud platform makes them easily accessible to all project participants and helps ensure consistency between design teams in cloud-based environments.

Sharing a MagiCAD dataset in Autodesk Construction Cloud requires that users have the Autodesk Desktop Connector installed on their workstations and the Autodesk Docs folder visible in File explorer.

4. New Accessories discipline in Product selection

Common tools

Products outside of existing MagiCAD product categories are sometimes needed in a design. These products are now available in a new Accessories tab in the Product selection window.

The Accessories tab includes two product classes: Accessories and Fire seals. The Accessories product class includes products that can be used across multiple design disciplines and products without connectors, such as wireless transmitters or fire extinguishers. The Fire seals product class includes fire protection components, such as fire cuffs and transits. The new product classes enable more detailed design and more accurate quantity lists.

5. Define naming conventions in the Clean-up and deliver tool

Common tools

Before a ready project is delivered, the model needs to be cleaned up. This includes applying certain naming rules for product families and product types and removing metadata, such as manufacturer information, from them.

To make this work easier, the Clean-up and deliver tool now allows you to define naming conventions for family and type groups. Users need to simply select a group, override the default naming, and build a new naming convention by selecting constant elements and type parameters.

The naming conventions are saved into the tool and can be easily re-used in later projects.

6. Assign IFC classification together with national classification

Common tools

MagiCAD now includes an efficient way to assign IFC classifications for products. IFC classification codes can be mapped onto national classification codes in the national classification properties. When products with a national classification are then updated, they are also automatically updated with the IFC classification information.

Combining IFC classification with national classification saves time and effort and ensures consistent application of the classification codes throughout.

7. Improvements to view management

Common tools

Several improvements to the View Manager enable more flexible view management. To accommodate different naming requirements, users can now customize naming structures for new views by reordering the items in the structure, as well as add a prefix to the name.

Additional improvements to the View Manager include the possibility to filter view lists and the addition of Crop View, Crop Region Visible, and Annotation Crop to the parameter selection.

8. Multiple improvements to Switchboard schematics

Electrical

Multiple improvements to Switchboard schematics provide more flexibility when creating schematics and quick and fast editing functions directly on the schematic sheets.

When creating switchboard schematic sheets or printouts, you can now select all panels with a Select all button instead of having to click on each one separately. You can also select up to five info sheets to be added for each panel. The Manage Links function includes a new button for inserting new circuits from the model straight to the end of the schematic without having to first add empty data blocks for them. Instead, MagiCAD will simply add as many blocks as are needed using the same block as the last row of the schematic.

On the schematic sheets you can now mark linked rows for a better overview. A new renumbering function makes it fast and easy to edit row numbers in the schematic and update the numbering to circuits in the model. It is also possible to delete or reset circuits directly in the schematic.

The new version also adds a powerful Copy As function for editing switchboard schematics. You can use the function to copy and place selected data blocks in the schematic. The blocks can be simply copied as they are, but you can also set a new circuit type for them or copy them as empty blocks to add empty space.

9. Improved handling of back box properties

Electrical

Back box handling has been improved to allow as much data as possible to be set for them before and during their installation. You can set a default system and installation code for back boxes in the dataset. These are then used when back boxes are placed behind actual devices in the model. The status of the host device is also automatically copied to the back box information during installation. These additions eliminate the need to edit properties for back boxes manually after installation.

10. Use throw lengths in air terminal selection

Ventilation

Throw length data was added for air terminals in MagiCAD 2025 UR-1 and it is now used for more detailed air terminal installation to spaces. You can now set a maximum throw length during air terminal selection, which allows you to identify the optimal solution for a given space more efficiently.

Additionally, throw length is shown as a dynamic point in throw length charts in different MagiCAD features.

11. Install flow dampers during device connection

Ventilation

The Device Connection tool now allows you to install flow dampers during device connection. This removes the need to install flow dampers manually afterwards for devices that need them.

The flow damper location is defined by setting a distance from the device or from the preceding connection point in the system. Flow damper installation also includes an option to skip the first segment when defining the installation location to allow for more flexibility.

12. New Collar Adjustment tool

Ventilation, Piping

Accommodating suspended ceilings and different floor elevations can sometimes require adjustments to the collar length of pipe and duct devices. A new Collar Adjustment tool makes it easy for designers to meet different elevation demands.

You can choose whether to move the connection point or the installation point when adjusting a collar. The tool also provides two options for how the adjustment will be made. You can either set a target level for installation elevation and the collars for all selected products will be adjusted so that their installation elevation is set to the target level, or you can increase or decrease the collar length by the same amount for all selected products.

The Collar Adjustment tool can be used for both vertical and horizontal collars with slightly different dialog options.

13. Connect multiple fan coil units and chilled beams simultaneously

Piping

The multiconnection option in MagiCAD connection tools allows you to create connections for multiple devices simultaneously saving a lot of valuable time in modelling. Multiconnection has now been extended to Fan coil units and Climate beams in the Pipe Connection tool, enabling fast and easy connections for these devices.

14. Add node symbols for branch connections in schematics

Schematics

MagiCAD Schematics now allows you to add node symbols to schematic diagrams to display branch connections. The node symbols can include data, such as the connection node number, which can be linked to the model, or they can be used simply as a visual representation of a branch connection.

You can add the node symbols with a setting in the Schematics tab. The symbols will then be automatically added to all split points of lines when the schematic diagram is created.

15. Improvements to Supports & Hangers module

Supports & Hangers

Improvements to the Supports & Hangers module improve the usability of the module and provide a more reliable data storage format for objects.

The object data storage format has been changed for the Supports & Hangers module. This change was necessary to ensure reliable data storage in future versions. Unfortunately, this means that the new and upgraded objects in used in this version of Supports & Hangers are incompatible with older MagiCAD versions.

The product lists in product installation dialogs have been improved for better usability. Generic categories and manufacturers that offer products for the current task are now automatically sorted to the top of the product list. Additionally, the Detailed S&H tool now gives a warning that the currently open file in Revit will be closed when the Detailed S&H model is saved.
