New features – MagiCAD 2026 UR-2 for AutoCAD
1. MagiCAD Object Viewer
All
A new MagiCAD Object Viewer function is available in the right-click menu after MagiCAD objects have been selected in the drawing. MagiCAD Object Viewer opens a dedicated 3D preview window that allows you to quickly examine the selected objects without handling the entire model or exporting to an external application.
The tool can be used for any objects that have been added with MagiCAD modules, including Room elements. Native AutoCAD and BricsCAD elements are not included in the window.

2. Linetypes by height level for vertical provisions
All
Linetypes for vertical provisions for builderswork openings can now be set based on elevation level. Linetypes are defined for different height levels in project settings. Provisions can then be set to follow the defined linetypes in layer definitions. This makes it possible to use different linetypes for vertical provisions at different elevations, for example to distinguish between openings in the floor and ceiling.

3. View velocity and pressure loss values during duct drawing
Ventilation
You can now view velocity and pressure loss values for different duct sizes during duct drawing. MagiCAD will automatically calculate velocity and pressure loss values for the different duct sizes based on a preliminary system flow that is defined in the design options. The velocity and pressure loss values help with making duct sizing decisions already during drawing.

4. Flexible pipes summed according to segment length
Piping
Flexible pipes are now summed according to segment lengths in bill of materials lists instead of a total length for all pieces. This better reflects real installation practices where pipe pieces of different preset lengths are used and enables more accurate bill of materials lists.

5. Custom Zeta values for pressure drop calculation
Piping
Standard zeta values for pressure drop calculation are not always suitable for each specific situation. You can now select whether the calculations should use the values in the calculation standard or manually defined custom zeta values. The custom values can be defined according to pipe size and flow case, providing greater control and accuracy in pressure loss calculation.

6. New properties for electrical objects
Electrical
Many different properties have been added for electrical products and their instances. The new properties help support national IFC property sets and enable additional information in dimension texts and bill of materials lists.
- Object type name and Description properties have been added for cable trays, conduits, lighting tracks, LED stripes, and busbar series
- Electrical fittings have multiple properties for additional data
- Electrical devices have additional properties for elevation information
Many other properties have also been added and a more detailed list can be found in the release notes in the MagiCAD 2026 UR-2 online user guide.

7. Manage back box properties through hosting devices
Electrical
Back boxes are automatically assigned the same status as the hosting device during installation and the system and installation codes for back boxes come from project settings. As back boxes themselves are not editable, it has not previously been possible to change these properties afterwards.
You can now edit the status, as well as the system and installation codes of back boxes by using the Change Properties function on the hosting device. This allows you to assign different properties to back boxes than their hosting devices so that the back boxes are separated correctly in reports and IFC exports.

8. Custom product libraries in Circuit Designer
Circuit Designer
You can now create custom product libraries for Circuit Designer based on existing drawings. Simply specify a folder with existing Circuit Designer drawings to be used as the source. During product installation, Circuit Designer will search the folder and list all products of the product type that you are installing. You can then simply select a product from the list and it will include all data that has been previously added to it.

9. Segmentation of ground floors into zones in Room module
Room
Building floors that are in contact with the ground experience some heat transfer with it. MagiCAD has accounted for this with Ground floor slabs that have different thermal transmittance coefficients. The Ground floor can now be further segmented according to distance from wall, for even more accurate estimations.

10. Update product group information in Schematics
Schematics
Product group information for schematic symbols in drawings can now be updated from the dataset using the Update Drawing Data function. This helps ensure that product group reporting remains consistent even when symbols are moved between groups.
