New features – MagiCAD 2026 UR-2 for Revit
1. Type specific data management in Dataset
Common Tools
The new version introduces smarter and more flexible capabilities for managing product data in the MagiCAD dataset.
The biggest addition is the possibility to define information for product variants. You can now assign unique user codes and product variables for each product size, making the process much more flexible.
MagiCAD datasets already allowed seamless modification of data in type properties and supported additional properties. With the addition of type-specific data management, you can customise datasets with precision and efficiency to suit the requirements of each project.

2. MagiCAD dataset API
Common Tools
A milestone for MagiCAD: The first external API is now available for MagiCAD for Revit. The API makes it possible to read and write information between the MagiCAD dataset and other software applications or systems. This enables users to create automated data management solutions on top of MagiCAD, streamlining the handling of product-related information.
The dataset API for MagiCAD for Revit enables completely new capabilities for product data management for companies using MagiCAD. It is now possible connect MagiCAD data seamlessly with company workflows and other software applications that may be in use, as well as bring product data from people outside the BIM project into MagiCAD. With intelligent management at the product type level, every product size can be controlled individually, providing a new level of flexibility, efficiency, and reliability in project data management.

3. Spreadsheet import and export for datasets

The new spreadsheet import and export functionality for MagiCAD dataset enables more efficient product data management. Product classes can now be exported to Excel spreadsheets, allowing you to organise, review, and edit data with familiar Excel tools.
Spreadsheet export allows multiple product classes to be consolidated into a single, structured sheet, making it easier to manage large datasets consistently. The functionality makes data validation and editing faster and more organized.
When the data is imported back into MagiCAD, the tool provides a clear summary of all changes, ensuring you have full control of the information throughout the process.

4. Load all product types to project
Common Tools
It is now possible to load all available product types into the project during product installation. This removes the need to add new types individually later, reducing interruptions during design work. Loading all product types into the project upfront can significantly improve efficiency and save time, especially in projects where many different variants are likely to be used.

5. Update existing elements with Project wizard
Common Tools
The Project Wizard tool in MagiCAD has proved useful in project setup. The tool has now been improved to expand its use to later project phases. When elements already exist in the project, the Project Wizard updates their level and space data instead of overriding them, allowing the tool to be used for updating the information at any stage of the project. The feature also supports IFC references and manages changes to space boundaries.

6. Improvements to Sheet manager
Common Tools
Sheet numbering has been added to the Sheet Manager tool. This allows you to number multiple sheets automatically using the same numbering convention. The sheets to be numbered can be selected either in the Revit project browser or in the Edit sheets dialog.
In addition, the Sheet Manager now includes a Find and replace function that can be used to easily locate and update text in sheet text parameters.

7. Updated BCF Manager window
Common Tools
The BCF Manager now features an updated window that facilitates the core task of issue management. The new layout makes navigating, reviewing, and managing issues more straightforward. The result is a smoother, more efficient workflow when coordinating issues between project participants.

8. Valve installation for climate beams and fan coils
Piping
The Valve tool can now be used to install valves for climate beams and fan coils, in addition to radiators. The tool also allows zone valves and other valve products to be used. This enables faster and easier valve installation to devices.

9. Resize radiators with Find and replace
Piping
The Find and replace tool can now be used to resize radiators when there are changes to the project, such as updated system properties or revised heating power demands due to room modifications.
The resizing is easy to do. Simply select the radiators to be resized and open the Find and replace tool. The tool automatically opens a radiator sizing window where you can calculate and select new radiator sizes.

10. Update space information for elements
Common Tools
You can now easily apply space names and numbers for elements with the Update Parameters tool. The space information is added into the element parameters.
System segments, however, often extend across space boundaries making it difficult to add exact space names and numbers for them. These situations can now be managed easily with a new At location option in the Split Segments tool. The option automatically splits segments at the midpoint of a wall or level and adds a union part. Space information can then be added separately for each end of the segment. Reference levels of vertical riser segments can also be updated automatically when splitting segments by level.
The At location option for splitting segments can be used for both the current model and for linked models.

11. Usability improvements
Common Tools
Multiple usability improvements reduce unnecessary clicks and actions and better align MagiCAD with common user workflows.
- Revit Finish button can now be confirmed using the Enter key, instead of using the mouse cursor, making it faster to complete repeated commands
- When the Create Similar function is used, MagiCAD now opens the product selection in the Dataset tab instead of the Project tab
- Pipe installation dialog enables filtering between piping and drainage series, simplifying series selection when the project includes many different series. This also enables support for third party drainage series throughout MagiCAD.
- Update Parameters tool now includes a new option called “Worksharing: Update only elements edited by user” to improve collaboration in shared projects. When enabled, only elements reserved by the current user are updated, and additional elements are no longer locked from other users.

12. New properties for electrical objects
Electrical
Multiple new properties for electrical objects improve support for national property sets and enable more complete bill of materials lists.
- Impact rating can be selected for all electrical devices and cable route elements
- Bus current can be defined for devices. The Bus current values can be summarized to circuits using the Update Parameters function.
- Additional properties for luminaires include Colour Rendering Index (CRI), Correlated Colour Temperature (CCT), and a description field for the light control method. The defined CCT value is also updated to Revit’s native Initial color type parameter for luminaires.

13. Update missing system codes for cable trays and conduits
Common Tools
The Update Parameters function now allows you to automatically update missing system codes for cable tray and conduit system elements. When the new Missing system codes of cable trays and conduits option is enabled, the tool checks if any selected segments or fittings are missing system codes and assigns them the system code of the nearest connected element that has one. This helps ensure consistency across connected elements.

14. Update connection data for wires
Electrical
The Update Parameters tool now allows you to update connection data for wires based on the devices connected to their end points. The data includes object IDs, descriptions, and space information. The connection data is also included for wires in bill of materials lists.
In addition, the Object IDs of cable packet elements are now added to circuits and passed on to their supply wires as part of the circuit information.

15. Wall distance definition for Batch Install
Supports & Hangers
A new wall distance definition in the Batch Install tool helps prevent hanger collisions with walls and ensures that hangers are not placed too far from fire-rated walls.
When the Distance to wall option is selected in the Batch installation settings, the defined distance is automatically used between hanger elements and the wall surface. The selection can be applied to standard walls, fire-rated walls, or both. Fire-rated walls are determined based on the Fire Rating type parameter in Revit wall elements. The wall elements can be read from the current model or from linked models.
