New features – MagiCAD 2027 for AutoCAD

All

MagiCAD 2027 is compatible with the new Autodesk AutoCAD 2027, as well as with the previous three AutoCAD versions 2024-2026, including the verticals AutoCAD MEP and AutoCAD Architecture. Compatibility with earlier AutoCAD versions gives you the flexibility to work across multiple projects without disruption. Whether you’re adopting the latest AutoCAD updates or maintaining long-running projects on earlier versions, MagiCAD integrates smoothly into your workflow.

Ventilation

It is now possible to use manufacturer-provided safety distance data for flow damper products in balancing calculations. This improves the accuracy and reliability of the calculations since previously only general user-defined safety distances could be applied.

Piping

It is now possible to connect multiple primary and secondary heating systems and drainage systems to heating and cooling plants. This improvement enables complex designs that employ different heat sources, such as boilers, solar panels, and geothermal heat, or serve different heating systems, such as radiators and underfloor heating. Pressure losses can be calculated also for secondary heating systems, enabling more accurate system design and sizing.

Drawings often include a lot of information that has been added as free text in the AutoCAD paper space environment, but these texts can be difficult to modify afterwards, as you have to navigate around the drawing. The Find & Replace function can now also be used in the paper space working environment, making it easier to modify text annotations.

Multiple improvements to IFC export enable quick IFC exports and more consistent IFC outputs.

The quick function for IFC export (CTRL+E or -MAGIIFCCD) now saves the exported IFC file to the folder of the current selection set and uses the current drawing name as the file name. This makes it easy to create quick IFC exports based on the same selection set.

In the Electrical module, the system handling for IFC Export has been updated. All systems are now exported as distribution systems in IFC4 or IFC4x3 schemas. Previously, some systems were exported as circuits, which could lead to inconsistencies.

In addition, the exported length properties in MagiCAD property sets and provision names are now more compatible with IFC designations.

Electrical

Changing the product type for cable tray, busbar, LED strip, or lighting track products usually requires that product sizes are also updated, which can be a difficult process. It is now possible to update product sizes at the same time as the products themselves are changed with Change Properties. Size changes to products are applied both horizontally and vertically. In some cases, minor adjustments may still be required if this causes elevation changes that affect the layout.

Electrical

Multiple improvements and additions to electrical object properties enable better use of national classification property sets and more detailed bill of materials listings.

• Impact rating and luminaire-specific properties are now available for converted CAD objects, when applicable
• Elevation data for cable tray, busbar, LED strip, and lighting track fittings can be included in IFC exports
• Angles, connection sizes, and branch lengths for fittings can be included in reports and bill of materials listings

Room

It is now possible to add zone legends to drawings to help in identifying different areas of the building and their possible design demands or properties. The zones can also be distinguished with hatch patterns for easier visualization.

Schematics

The updated Change Properties function allows you to easily copy values between schematics objects. This speeds up editing and reduces the risk of manual input errors.

The user interface of the Change Properties function in the Schematics module has also been updated to follow other MagiCAD modules, which provides a more consistent user experience across disciplines.
