Driving sustainability in MEP design through an integrated Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) workflow
The white paper explores how a BIM-integrated LCA workflow enables technical decision makers with the credible, standards-aligned data needed to validate the right approach. For MEP designers, it means a workflow you’ll genuinely want to use everyday work.
- Build a business case leadership will approve: Assess credible, standards-aligned carbon data that strengthens recommendations stands up at every decision-making level
- Reduce risk in decision making: Assess the workflow using real BIM data and real regulatory requirements, rather than relying on vendor claims or assumptions
- Stay ahead of the compliance curve: Position your team for forthcoming EPBD reporting obligations before it becomes mandatory
- For MEP manufacturers: Verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are becoming increasingly important in product selection. Learn where market expectations and requirements are heading
Regulation is tightening. Will your workflow choice hold up?
Under the EU’s Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), life cycle GWP disclosure becomes mandatory for new buildings over 1,000 m² by 2028, and for all new buildings by 2030.
Finland already requires carbon declarations with progressively tightening limit values. In Sweden, Boverket is adapting the climate declaration to follow the same EPBD timetable.
MEP systems can account for up to 15–50% of a building’s embodied carbon which means the workflow you choose today needs to prove, transparently, where every number comes from.
